About Ursula
Passion:
My question is always, have you found what you are passionate about in life? I am of the belief that life is a journey, and when we find our passion, this gives us meaning and purpose in our life. When we have found our true passion this helps us to shine and be our best selves.
Values:
I value openess, respect, trustworthyness, responsibility, reliability, kindness, compassion, courage and of course Carl Rogers' 3 core conditions of empathy, congruence & unconditional positive regards. These are the values I aspire to on a daily basis.
Life Challenges:
It was going through difficult life challenges that led me to counselling & psychotherapy in 2005. It was here that I found my true passion. It was only in my late 30's that I discovered I could make choices in my life. This empowered me to grow greatly as a person, and in turn has become an integral part of my continuous professional development.
Therapeutic Space:
Given the opportunity, I will offer you a safe therapeutic setting where you can come and be free to be who you truly are without fear of judgement.
A place where empathy and respect are 'givens'.
A safe haven where I can help you to explore what takes away your peace.
To support you in any changes you may choose to make, and/or help you to accept and come to terms with whatever cannot be changed.
Work Experience:
I have worked as a core counsellor/psychotherapist on a one-to-one basis in a general counselling centre since 2009, with both adults and young adults. During which time I have helped a great number of clients with issues ranging from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, loss, bereavement, divorce, trauma and anger to name but a few. I also spent 4 years working part-time in an addiction rehabilitation centre, with persons in recovery. In 2013, I set up my private practice where I see clients both face to face and online through zoom. I am also an affilliated counsellor/psychotherapist with an EAP agency (Employment assist program), whereby private companies & public organisations use therapists to support their staff.
My qualifications:
B.Sc. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University UK & PCI College Dublin.
Professional Certificates in Art Therapy, CBT, Family Therapy, Psychosynthesis, Narrative Therapy & ECP (Formation Spirituality).
I also attend workshops regularly to support my continual professional development.
I am a fully qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist, garda vetted and an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and I am bound by their code of ethics.
